although this question is a few days too late... we just ordered a roomba 560 from HSN.com, and am curioius about how reliable they are when put into a daily use work cycle on hardwood floors.
Our dog is a 130 pound great pyrenees and sheds a lot, and it gets exhausting trying to keep up with the "cody puffs" that float around on the floor. Upright vacs tend to blow them around, our dustbuster battery is dying after several months of daily use, so the roomba has been a last resort to keep the fur under control.
Is a daily work cycle too much for the roomba to handle? We got an extended warranty on it, but I expect we'll be replacing the battery and corner brushes fairly frequently.
My wife's parents have hardwood floors, and a Roomba. They love it.

Roomba Virtual How do I take apart the Roomba Virtual Wall?
I don't see any screws or places where I could pry it apart. Sooo how do I get into this?
One of mine broke apart and I found out that under each of the rubber feet is a screw. I think you have to really grab the feet with pliers to get them out -- and that will probably ruin them.
I ended up duct taping the top to the bottom -- and the tape matches the color! :^)

Roomba - Ignoring virtual wall
The light on my virtual wall for my Roomba Red is blinking, how can I get it to stop?
I already changed the batteries, but it is still blinking? Any ideas what might be wrong?
It is probably just a malfunction. I have an air purifier that won't stop blinking after it told me to change filters.

I bought a Roomba on ebay that worked beautifully for 1 month. Then it croaked. The warranty is not transferable. It's only 2 years old! Irobot wants $95 plus shipping to refurbish it. I did research on these vacuums, but didn't realize there were no stores to take them to get them fixed. Help!!!

It sounds like your Roomba has a sensor failure of some kind, or one wheel is stuck. Try cleaning the wheels and making sure they turn properly. If the wheels are OK, then it must think it's either bumping into something continuously, or about to fall off an edge continuously (because the sensor isn't working) Go to this page to do diagnostics:

The iRobot is about two years old and I replaced the battery. This is the second new battery I purchased (new not referb.). They come charged and I run the Roomba until it dies and then put it back on the base. After that the power light flashes red without ever recharging.
