so my roomba now just quickly flashes green when i press the power button instead of not even turning on at all (accomplishment?)
i did the roomba 72 hour deep charge 3 times and still nothing.

Im not keen when your say "flashes green". When the Roomba is powered on, the light should be solid green or when fully charged. When charging, the light should be flashing amber (orange).

Roomba discovery/ Roomba scheduler/ Scooba/ etc.?
We've got a large area in kitchen, bathroom, living room, and dining area of tile and lenoleum. We're a pretty dirty family. (2 kids, farmers, dirt roads, etc.) No inside dogs though. Will one of these pick up all the dirt we track in daily?
I have a Roomba Discovery and a Scooba. The Scooba is wonderful for moping kitchens and hard floors. Which Roomba you choose is based on what features you need. The Scheduler would be useful if you (or your spouse) are not home often and need the vacuum to start cleaning before you are home. If you (or your spouse) are home often the Roomba Discovery should be sufficient. All you have to do is press the button, it will clean then go back to the home base (if you have one, most of the robots now come with one) and will charge itself up for the next time that you need it. I would recommend that you get the brush cleaning tool. Most of the models come with one now, but if yours doesn't, you can order one for less than $5.00. If you track in as much dirt as you say, you will need to clean your brushes often and change the filter often. You can buy new filters, but I just gently wash mine with soap and water. Most models come with at least 2 filters, so when one gets too dirty, I just put in the clean one and wash the dirty one and let it dry overnight. Then it's ready the next time I need to change my filter.
The Scoobas are very easy to use. Just add cleaning solution and water, press the button and go. After the cleaning cycle is done you empty and rinse out the dirty tank, rinse the filter, and rinse the port, put the battery on the charger and it is ready to go the next time you need it. The Scooba will suck small dirt and dust, so you might not have to sweep before you use it. Personally, I always sweep before I Scooba because I have 2 small children who drop food on the floor. If you have a large hard floor area I would recommend the 5900, because it has a bigger tank than the 5800 and can do a larger room.
Both robots have saved me so much time cleaning my floors. I can mop my kitchen floor daily and not have to devote extra time to cleaning. Right now as I type this my Scooba is mopping my kitchen floor and my Roomba is vacuuming my kids bedroom. I love my robots.

Probably not, because I doubt it could handle the animal hair on the floor in my house unless I used it at least once a day which I'd never do. Cool idea, I'm sure they work fine for some people.
