In their second feature with director Richard Lester, who oversaw the massive hit A Hard Day's Night, the Beatles again aim for a mix of goofy comedy and sterling pop music. There is slightly more of a plot this time, though it is a patently ridiculous one: a sacred ruby ring comes into Ringo's possession, attracting the unwelcome attention of an exotic religious cult and forcing the boys to go on the run. This chase narrative is thankfully never taken too seriously, serving mainly as an excuse for colorful excursions to international locations from Europe to the Bahamas. The musical numbers include such classic tunes as "Ticket to Ride," "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away," and, of course, "Help!". ~ Judd Blaise, Rovi

Two years after the Virginia Tech shootings and a decade after the Columbine massacre, documentary filmmakers attempt to get at the source of the problem by exploring the topic of depression and mental illness in teenagers. Each week, 28 teens commit suicide, and 90-percent of those suicide victims have a diagnosable mental illness at the time of their death. Of course, not every teen who suffers from depression will perpetrate a school shooting, though since depression and thoughts of suicide are evident in all school shooters, effective mental health screening is crucial in keeping all of our children safe and preventing further tragedy. Stacy Hollingsworth was a straight-A student and gifted musician who always put on a happy face. But no one, including Stacy's parents, had any idea that she suffered from crippling depression. It wasn't until Stacy phoned home from a campus psychiatric hospital during her freshman year of college that her parents finally realized that something was amiss. By presenting Stacy's story, the filmmakers highlight just what parents can do to recognize the early warning signs, and get their children the help they need to lead happy, productive lives. Additional advice on how to recognize behavior and communications issues before they evolve into depression, anger, violence, or suicidal thoughts gives parents the information they need to address the issue before it becomes critical. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

A fast-rising beatmaker from out of Detroit, Apollo Brown introduced his brand of soul-flavored, sample-heavy production on two instrumental albums -- Skilled Trade (2007) and Make Do (2009). Now inducted into the ranks of respected indie rap label Mello Music Group, Brown adds some tweaks and twists to a selection of beats from his archives, pairing them with choice vocals from labelmates such as Kenn Starr, Oddissee, Declaime, and Hassaan Mackey as well as a handful of underground mainstays like Prince Po, Grap Luva, and Big Pooh of Little Brother. The result is an extraordinary hodgepodge of next-level lyricism and impeccable behind-the-boards craftsmanship. Detroit's underground hip-hop scene has received renewed scrutiny in recent years with the passing of J Dilla as well as commendable efforts from Guilty Simpson and Black Milk, among others. What sets Apollo Brown apart is that, unlike some of his Motown brethren who tend to follow Dilla's beatmaking formulas to a T, Apollo Brown shows he can excel at a variety of production styles. And while James Yancey's legacy can be heard at times, it's clear that Brown was raised on the works of East Coast masters like the RZA and DJ Premier. The beats featured on The Reset waffle between brooding slow burners ("Lower the Boom," "Seasons," "Brainwash," "Propa") and soaring, battle-happy headnodders ("Hungry," "Streets Won't Let Me Chill," "Ghetto Soul Music"). Furthermore, he displays a meticulous attention to detail in his programming that's too rare in contemporary hip-hop. Consider how the chunky bassline and crisp drums of "Real Detroit" are given an adrenaline rush with the addition of baseball bat cracks and roaring crowd samples when the chorus drops. Similarly, the jazzy guitar chords and echoing vocals lingering behind "Seasons" provide a haunting backdrop to Kansas-born lyricist Stik Figa's woeful vignettes of his home state. Ultimately, The Reset shows and proves Apollo Brown's mettle as a versatile and highly talented beatsmith while serving as a fine showcase for the Mello Music Group roster. ~ Matt Rinaldi

Assault and Battery is a collection of highlights from the group's recordings between 1988 and 1993. Although there are some good moments on the record, much of it is simply average thrash, with the later material suggesting that the group has run out of energy and ideas. Still, it's a good way to pick up the best material from some of their lesser albums. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

A hidden well of gay-lesbian culture comes bubbling to the surface of a small Western town in this independent comedy/drama. In the Texas town of Azalea Springs, life for the most part still seems stuck in the 1950s; the women have big hair, they join the Junior League, and they don't buck the status quo. Also, homosexuality is something that just isn't talked about, so many of the townspeople are shocked when Hope House, a hospice for AIDS patients, opens in their little town. Alexandra "Alex" Stratton (Keri Jo Chapman), who is stuck in an unhappy marriage with her boorish husband Robert (Matthew S. Thompkins) and has an overbearing and prejudiced mom, Lily Talbot (Barbara Lasater), decides to volunteer at the hospice, which scandalizes most of the other ladies of the League. Alex soon discovers that her best friend from high school, Grace Miller (Teresa Garrett), is working there as a nurse; Grace recently went through a difficult divorce when her husband discovered that Grace was having an affair with one of her co-workers...who happened to be female. Alex soon finds herself looking at Grace in a new way, and friendship gives way to something much deeper. Meanwhile, Spencer (John Hallum), a very out-of-the-closet friend of Alex's, begins joking with people that homosexuality is being spread by something in the town's water supply. With Alex and Grace's affair the hot item in the town's gossip mill and newspaperman Mark (Derrick Sanders) falling in love with artist Thomas (Timothy Vahle), this witticism finds its way to many gullible ears, and fire and brimstone preacher Brother Daniel (John Addington) forms "Homo-No-Mo," a support group for gay men who want to return to the straight and narrow, so to speak. The supporting cast features Jerry Haynes, best known as "Mr. Peppermint," the host of a syndicated children's television series; he's also the father of Gibby Haynes, sometimes film actor and lead singer for the alternative rock band The Butthole Surfers. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
Why do scooba-divers flip backwards off the boat and into the water?
The most common entry off of the boat is the giant stride.
However if the boat is lower to the water or it is really wavey out sometimes it is much safer to fall backwards into the water. This way there is no risk of the tank hitting the boat. It also allows for the diver to make an easier immediate descent so as not to have to resurface upon entering the water.
You may also be talking about entering from a zodiac (sort of life boat style) in which case you are seated on the sides. Zodiacs are used to get to locations that larger dive boats cannot reach since they are small, inflated and rely on a small motor. Rear entry off a zodiac is the only way to enter the water in this situation.
